Privacy

The short version

There is no account to create here and no mailing list to join. What this site collects is a count of how many people read which pages, the cookies Google uses to show ads, and — only if you choose to write to me — the name, email address and message you type into the contact form. Nothing else.

Analytics

This site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to count page views, so I can tell which articles people actually read. That sets cookies in your browser and tells Google your approximate location, your browser, and which pages you visited. It does not tell them who you are, because this site does not know who you are.

Advertising

Ads run on this site, served by Google AdSense. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or to other sites, and to measure how those ads perform.

If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set. Wherever you are, you can review and change what Google uses for advertising at My Ad Center, and opt out of personalised advertising from other vendors at aboutads.info.

Ads also run on TerraForge, which sits on a subdomain of this site. Those ads are always non-personalised, because TerraForge is used by children — its own privacy page explains what that means.

The contact form

The contact form on the contact and about pages asks for your name, your email address and a message. Those three things are emailed straight to me through Postmark, the service that delivers the mail. They are not saved to a database here, not added to any list, and not used for anything except replying to you.

The form is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out. That check looks at your browser and network, not at who you are, and it runs only on the form.

Where the content comes from

Articles and project pages are stored in a content management system (Sanity) and rendered by this site. That is my content, not your data — nothing about your visit is sent there.

What I never do

I never sell your data, and I have no mailing list to add you to. I have no access to anything Google collects beyond the aggregate counts — I can see that a page was read four hundred times, not who read it.

Turning it off

Your browser can block or clear cookies for this site, and most browsers offer a Do Not Track setting. Blocking them costs you nothing here: every page still works exactly the same.
